Definitie
Een zeldzame, genetische aandoening, gekarakteriseerd door microcefalie, algehele ontwikkelingsachterstand, intellectuele achterstand, abnormale spiertonus, en sensorineuraal gehoorverlies. Bijkomende variabele manifestaties zijn onder meer epilepsie, corticale visuele stoornis, gastro-intestinale stoornissen, groeirestrictie, scoliose, alsook immuundeficiëntie en trombocytopenie. Beeldvorming van hersenen toont mogelijk cerebrale atrofie, dun corpus callosum, en hypomyelinisatie.
